CTE - Learning that works for Utah.

CTE Information

Career and Technical Education is a state sponsored learning opportunity to teach our students great life skill that will help them as they advance through High School, College, and their career. In Logan School District, students may participate in CTE classes during their time at Mount Logan Middle School and Logan High School. Please take some time to look at the CTE Pathway and learn about our goals of guiding our students towards a successful career.

For information on how students can get involved and registered for these classes, please contact your school.

Why get involved?

CTE Pathways:  this refers to different career pathways with opportunities to learn about, and experience careers while still in high school.

Earning, or completing a CTE Pathway involves taking elective classes in high school that meet specific criteria.  These classes are offered through Logan High School (LHS), Bridgerland Applied Technical College (BATC), Weber State University (WSU) and Utah State University (USU). Typically students would only need to take a few classes outside of their graduation requirements to complete a CTE Pathway

CTE Pathways

“CTE Pathways, within eight Areas of Study, are rigorous programs of study to assure strong academic and technical preparation providing students with critical learning and hands-on skills.  Students who focus on a Pathway acquire the skills necessary for entry into well-paid careers with high potential for rapid financial growth, increased levels of responsibility, and a high degree of personal satisfaction.”

Students who complete a CTE pathway…

  • Earn a completer certificate that looks great on resumes and applications
  • Earn the opportunity to compete for CTE Scholarships
  • Earn a CTE medallion to be worn at graduation
  • Gain valuable experience in determining what career works best for them, as well as make contacts in the field to jump start a career

Logan High School currently offers 14 different career and technical pathways to help students explore careers while still in high school.

These are broken down into 5 main categories:

  • Business
  • Marketing
  • Health Science
  • Family & Consumer Science
  • Skilled & Technical

The categories are further broken down into the specific pathway the student can pursue.  For example Business has 3 pathways; Business Technology Support, Business Entrepreneurship, & Accounting.

The following are the pathways and their requirements.  There are Foundation classes, and Elective classes within each pathway.  Credits from Foundation and Elective classes vary depending on the pathway. Classes taken for 1 semester are .5 credits, year-long (2 semesters) are 1.0 credit.
