RE: New Textbook Disposal Guidelines
The following guidelines need to be followed when disposing of used textbooks.
- Per Utah Code 53A‑12‑207 Disposal of Textbooks and Utah Admin Code R277‑433‑1 Definitions, the following procedures should be used in defining textbooks for surplus/disposal.
- “Useable Textbooks” means a set of at least 25 textbooks, that are not badly damaged, worn out, or outdated.
- An inventory sheet needs to be completed of everything being boxed
- The books need to be marked “Discard”
- Each box needs to be labeled for its content
- A copy of the inventory sheet must be emailed to the district office (see below) prior to them being picked up with the location of where the boxes will be
- Retain the boxes at your school until arrangements can be made for pick up
- The forms can be found at: http://www.loganschools.org/textbooks
- “Unusable Textbooks”
- The books need to be marked “Discard”
- Each box needs to be labeled as “Unusable”
- Retain the boxes at your school until arrangements can be made, by your school, for pick up by a vendor
