RE: New Textbook Disposal Guidelines

The following guidelines need to be followed when disposing of used textbooks.

  1. Per Utah Code 53A‑12‑207 Disposal of Textbooks and Utah Admin Code R277‑433‑1 Definitions, the following procedures should be used in defining textbooks for surplus/disposal.

  2. “Useable Textbooks” means a set of at least 25 textbooks, that are not badly damaged, worn out, or outdated.

    1. An inventory sheet needs to be completed of everything being boxed

    2. The books need to be marked “Discard”

    3. Each box needs to be labeled for its content

    4. A copy of the inventory sheet must be emailed to the district office (see below) prior to them being picked up with the location of where the boxes will be

    5. Retain the boxes at your school until arrangements can be made for pick up

    6. The forms can be found at: http://www.loganschools.org/textbooks

  3. “Unusable Textbooks”

    1. The books need to be marked “Discard”

    2. Each box needs to be labeled as “Unusable”

    3. Retain the boxes at your school until arrangements can be made, by your school, for pick up by a vendor
