Dual Language Immersion FAQs

  • How do I sign up?

Applications are always accepted. The first round of acceptance letters will be sent after February 15th.

  • Can I still apply after the application deadline?

Yes, preference will be given to on-time applications but depending on availability there may be a place for your student after the initial application deadline. (Link to Application Page “Apply here”)

  • How will I know if my child is accepted? 

Parents will be notified via written letter. 

  • Can I place my child in the Dual language Immersion program after first grade? 

There is a possibility that your child may be able to thrive in the DLI. Contact the school principal to find out if this is a good option for your student.

  • Will you bus my student from their home?

No, bussing to Hillcrest will be from all Logan City School District’s Elementary schools.

  • Can I attend if I live out-of-district?

Yes, we welcome and encourage out of district applications. Once Logan City district students have been placed, out of district students will then be selected.

  • Will my children still learn English?

Yes, and studies have shown that children have attained higher levels of proficiency in English than their non-DLI peers.

  • Where is the DLI program going to be located?

Both the Spanish and the Portuguese DLI programs will be housed at Hillcrest Elementary school.

  • What are the credentials for the foreign language teachers?

All teachers are required to be licensed and second-language teachers must have a World Language Endorsement.

  • How many children will be admitted?
