Purpose

The Board acknowledges the value of recognizing employee associations, the importance of fair and equitable negotiations and the need for an effective negotiation process that occurs in an establish setting

Definitions

Education Employee Association- means a formalized professional organization representing members of its employee classification.

Policy

The Board agrees to recognize the education employee association with the greatest number of members, for its employee classification, as the exclusive representative of all members of the employee classification, upon being furnished with satisfactory evidence that the largest number of employees with the classification have designated or selected it as their representative.

On or before October 1 of each school year and prior to the beginning of negotiations, the education employee associations will provide the District with verification of their membership numbers.

The Board will be informed by November 1 each year regarding which associations will be recognized for the purpose of negotiations.

Prior to ratification of an agreement, the education employee associations will provide updated membership numbers signifying their authority to ratify.
