Logan City School District Child Find Notice
Logan City School District is legally responsible for actively identifying, locating, and evaluating all children who may have disabilities and who reside within district boundaries, in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Utah State Board of Education (USBE) Special Education Rules.
Who Is Covered
Child Find applies to all children and youth from birth through age 21 who may have a disability and be in need of special education and related services, including:
- Children enrolled in public or private schools
- Homeschooled students
- Preschool-age children (ages 3–5)
- Children who are highly mobile, homeless, or wards of the state
When to Refer
If your child is experiencing significant difficulty with communication, learning, behavior, vision, hearing, motor skills, or overall development compared to typical peers, they may qualify for special education or related services.
Referral and Evaluation Process
- Initial Contact:
- School-age children (K–12): Contact the principal of your neighborhood school or the Logan City School District Special Education Department at 435-755-2304.
- Preschool children (ages 3–5): Contact Riverside Preschool at 435-755-2337.
- Infants and toddlers (birth–3): Contact the Up to 3 Early Intervention Program at 435-797-3727.
- School-age children (K–12): Contact the principal of your neighborhood school or the Logan City School District Special Education Department at 435-755-2304.
- Screening and Referral: The district will review concerns and may conduct screenings to determine if a formal evaluation is appropriate.
